Weekly Highlights: Dec 16- 22

NYC

The holidays are almost here, and things are slowing down as expected. This week’s highlights are sparse, but it’s been the perfect mix of movement, good food, and winter strolls around the city.

Bhakti Yoga Center – The Flow I Keep Returning To
Mid-week, I found myself back at Bhakti Yoga Center. I usually try exploring new studios for a more comprehensive review, but sometimes, you must return to your favorites. The Bhakti Flow class is truly something special. The practice blends Vinyasa-style movement with chanting, breathwork, and meditation elements. It's deeply grounding yet energizing – the kind of class that leaves you floating out the door. If you haven’t experienced Bhakti Yoga yet, I highly recommend it, especially during this cozy, reflective time of year.

Post-Yoga Ayurvedic Delights at Divya's Kitchen
After class, a friend and I stopped at Divya's Kitchen next door, which felt like the perfect continuation of the Bhakti experience. Divya’s Kitchen is rooted in Ayurvedic principles, with a menu designed to nourish and balance the body based on the season and individual constitution. I love how the food feels hearty yet light – everything is intentional and leaves you feeling replenished. If you go, try one of their kitchari dishes or seasonal vegetable plates.

A Festive Stroll Through Union Square Holiday Market
Later in the week, I walked through the Union Square Holiday Market. While Bryant Park Winter Village holds a special place in my heart for its ice rink and cozy atmosphere, there’s something undeniably festive about Union Square this time of year. The market is filled with local vendors, handmade gifts, and the warm scent of cider and roasted nuts. It’s a little chaotic but worth the sensory overload.

Dinner at Wayla – A Lower East Side Gem
One evening led me to Wayla, a cozy, tucked-away spot on the Lower East Side. Wayla’s vibe is intimate yet lively, with dim lighting and decor that feels effortlessly cool. The Thai-inspired dishes are shareable and flavorful, but if you’re stopping by, do yourself a favor and order the crab spring rolls. They’re crispy, delicate, and flavorful – one of my favorite bites of the week.

Crown Heights Stroll & A Visit to Sarale Wigs
To round out the week, I took a walk through Crown Heights. The neighborhood has such a rich energy, and this time, I stopped at Sarale Wigs to learn more about the wig-making process. I’ll dive deeper into that experience later, but it was such a fascinating glimpse into the artistry behind custom wigs and hairpieces.

That wraps up this week! I’ll check back in after the holidays, but until then, happy holidays! Wishing you a restful, joyful end to the year.
