Weekly Highlights: Nov 11-17
It was a week of early birthday dinners—because why limit celebrating to just one day? Here’s a look at some of the amazing spots I tried out in NYC!
Shosh - West Village
I started the week with dinner at Shosh, a cozy West Village spot that brings a fresh perspective to Middle Eastern-inspired cuisine. The standout dish was the Celery Root Shawarma. This dish took me by surprise: tender celery root marinated in warm, earthy spices that brought out its natural sweetness and texture. Paired with a creamy tahini sauce and fresh herbs, it was a wonderful twist on the classic shawarma, showcasing the versatility of plant-based ingredients.
Planta Queen - Vegan Dining with a Twist
Next up was Planta Queen, a vegan restaurant chain with locations in Miami, Toronto, and more. Known for inventive plant-based takes on Asian-inspired dishes, it’s perfect for vegan and non-vegan diners alike. My favorite dishes were the Avocado Tartare and Japanese Eggplant.
Keen’s Steakhouse - Classic NYC Dining
Finally, I wrapped up the week at Keen’s Steakhouse, an NYC institution since 1885. With its warm, vintage ambiance, Keen’s feels like a step back in time. The Porterhouse steak was phenomenal, with that perfect steakhouse char and a rich, tender interior. The old-school service was impeccable, making the experience feel both elevated and intimate. If you’re craving a classic steak dinner in NYC, Keen’s is an absolute must!
