Weekly Highlights: Dec 2- Dec 8
After taking Thanksgiving week off, I dove back into NYC life, fully embracing the holiday spirit with classic winter activities. Here’s a rundown of my week filled with festive fun, delicious eats, and a sprinkle of Broadway magic.
Christmas Magic at Lotte Palace
I started the week with a visit to the iconic Lotte New York Palace. Its grand courtyard, with the stunning Christmas tree and elegant decorations, feels straight out of a movie. It’s no wonder this spot has become a favorite for holiday photoshoots.
Bryant Park Winter Village
Next up, Bryant Park Winter Village! This festive market is a dream for holiday shoppers and food lovers alike. I didn’t try any food, but I hear the hot chocolate is great! The skating rink, set against the backdrop of the city, is always a crowd-pleaser—whether you're lacing up or just watching from The Lodge.
Walking Down 5th Avenue
5th Avenue during the holidays is pure magic. I loved popping into Papillon, which boasts some of the most enchanting Christmas decorations I’ve seen this season. The window displays at stores like Saks are mesmerizing, blending art, fashion, and holiday whimsy. Even better, Nest has installed diffusers along the street, filling the air with holiday fragrances—a delightful touch that enhances the whole experience.
Broadway: The Notebook
I capped off one evening by seeing The Notebook on Broadway, and let me say: 10/10 recommend it! This show is a must-see if you’re in the mood for an emotional journey and a good cry. The performances were heartfelt and beautifully executed. The only downside? Navigating through Times Square this time of year—crowded chaos that I’d recommend avoiding if possible.
Two Foodie Finds
Taverna di Bacco (LES)
This cozy spot quickly became a favorite. Their chicken parm was delicious, and the lamb ragu rigatoni (gluten-free!) stood out. It’s perfect for a relaxed ‘neighborhood’ dinner with hearty homemade flavors.Mokyo (LES)
A hidden gem offering creative Korean tapas. The scallops and beef tartare were excellent!
