Dr. Ali's October Product Empties

October has been a journey of replenishing tried-and-true favorites and saying goodbye to a few products that didn’t make the cut. Here’s a roundup of my empties for this month and my thoughts on whether or not I’ll be repurchasing them.

Avene Tolerance Control Cream

Will I Repurchase? Yes

Why I Love It: Avene's Tolerance Control Cream is a lifesaver for sensitive or reactive skin days. Formulated with D-Sensinose, a unique postbiotic active ingredient, it soothes irritation, restores balance, and helps repair the skin barrier. Unlike some other calming creams, this one hydrates without a heavy feel, so it works great as a moisturizer in my routine when my skin needs that extra TLC.

SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic

Will I Repurchase? Absolutely

Ingredients: L-ascorbic acid (15%), vitamin E, and ferulic acid

What It Does: This powerful antioxidant serum is a gold standard for skin protection and brightening. The combination of vitamin C, vitamin E, and ferulic acid stabilizes the formula, helping to neutralize free radicals from environmental damage. I use it every morning under sunscreen, and it’s been transformative for brightening and firming my skin over time.

Eucalyptus Shower Bombs

Will I Repurchase? Yes

Why I Love It: These shower bombs turn a regular shower into a spa-like experience. They release a refreshing eucalyptus scent that’s both energizing and calming, making them perfect for winding down after a busy day or giving a morning boost. With colder weather, I find them particularly soothing.

CeraVe Healing Ointment

Will I Repurchase? Absolutely- I have a monthly subscription on Amazon ;)

Ingredients: Petrolatum, ceramides, hyaluronic acid

What It Does: I use this as a barrier-repair product for my “slugging” step. The petrolatum creates a protective layer, while ceramides and hyaluronic acid help restore moisture. It’s perfect for dry patches and for sealing in my nighttime skincare routine, ensuring that my skin stays hydrated and resilient.

Caudalie Beauty Elixir

Will I Repurchase? Yes

Ingredients: Grape extract, peppermint, rosemary, rose essential oils

What It Does: This refreshing facial mist is a beautiful pick-me-up and adds a radiant glow. I love its versatility — I use it after makeup for a dewy finish or throughout the day for a burst of hydration and aromatherapy. With antioxidants, it’s an easy way to refresh and nourish on the go.

e.l.f. Makeup Remover Cleansing Balm

Will I Repurchase? Yes

Why I Love It: This is a budget-friendly balm with impressive performance! This gentle cleanser effectively breaks down makeup and sunscreen without drying out my skin. I use it as the first step in my double cleanse, and it’s proven itself to be an affordable staple in my evening routine.

Byredo Desert Dawn Perfume

Will I Repurchase? No

Notes: Bergamot, cactus flower, amber, musk

Thoughts: Byredo is known for its unique fragrances, and Desert Dawn was no exception, blending earthy and floral notes in an unexpected way. It’s intriguing but just didn’t suit me as a daily scent. It’s a beautiful fragrance but won’t be a repeat purchase in my collection.

Caudalie Vinoclean Gentle Foaming Cleanser

Will I Repurchase? No

Ingredients: Chamomile extract, grape water, sage extract

Thoughts: Although this cleanser is gentle and refreshing, it left my skin feeling slightly dry. While it’s great for balancing and calming, I need more hydration, especially with colder months ahead. I recommend it for oilier skin types looking for a gentle, effective cleanse.
